In SKINMED®, acne becomes history! We don't say it, our patients' beautiful, healthy skin does.
Who are we talking to?
Both teenagers and adults experiencing acne lesions. Although acne is a condition specific to teenagers, adults are not completely free from it either. It most often occurs in the context of hormonal dysfunction or on genetic grounds. Although it evolves chronically, in SKINMED®, we have managed to effectively control this condition with major psycho-emotional impact both through active lesions and residual signs that appear if this condition is neglected! This is why SKINMED® is close to you with the latest and most effective laser treatments, organized by our experts in combined and individualized protocols.
Why choose SKINMED® experts?
SKINMED® experts have the experience of successful cases because they understand the pathophysiology of acne and have incorporated modern technologies that act directly on the mechanisms that cause the condition. They combine local, sometimes oral, treatments with combined laser technologies, peels or other minimally invasive procedures because they understand the impact of this condition on patients' lives and have chosen procedures with no or minimal recovery time. We need several treatment sessions, often followed by maintenance sessions. Initially active lesions, whether comedonal or inflammatory (papulo-pustular), are addressed to stop their appearance, so that residual signs can be controlled quickly.
Benefits of acne diagnosis and treatment in SKINMED®
What is acne?
Acne is a chronic, inflammatory condition of the sebaceous glands, which leads to the appearance of whiteheads, blackheads, papulo-pustules, cysts and nodules, especially on the face, trunk, arms (areas rich in sebaceous glands).
It is extremely common: it affects 3 out of 4 people in the 11-30 age group.
In SKINMED®, modern treatments, the result of medical progress, are available to control existing lesions, prevent new lesions from appearing and considerably reduce the appearance of post acne scarring and hyperpigmentation that may occur.
What therapeutic options are available to you in SKINMED®?
SKINMED® experts choose, depending on the clinical form of acne, individual treatments for each patient.

Frequently asked questions
What causes acne?
Acne is a common skin condition characterised by increased sebum synthesis, poor sebum drainage, bacterial proliferation and associated inflammation.
The aetiology is complex, multifactorial and often includes a genetic inheritance together with favouring factors such as hormonal changes occurring in adolescence or in the case of associated conditions (e.g. polycystic ovary syndrome) or external factors (comedogenic cosmetics, diet, stress).
Although not a dangerous condition, acne in its severe, inflammatory forms and especially post acne scarring can cause emotional problems, especially among teenagers.
What are the clinical forms of acne?
Acne is non-inflammatory (comedonal), manifested by whiteheads or blackheads, and inflammatory (papulo-pustular, nodular, congested), with pustules and/or red, inflamed, nodular lesions containing purulent collection. The more inflamed the lesions, the more residual signs.
Is acne an infectious condition?
NO, the infection is actually the consequence of bacterial proliferation in the sebaceous gland filled with stagnant sebum. Therefore, treatment targets all the mechanisms of this condition, and oral antibiotics administered are not antibacterial per se, but address the entire mechanism of this condition.
What are the treatment options for acne?
Treatment options for acne include topical creams, oral medications and lifestyle changes. Topical creams such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and retinoids can help drain the sebaceous gland and reduce inflammation. Oral medications such as antibiotics and hormonal contraceptives may be prescribed for more severe cases. Lifestyle changes, such as avoiding certain foods and managing stress, can also help improve acne.
Can acne be prevented?
Preventing acne involves practicing good skin care habits, such as washing your face twice a day and using non-comedogenic products. Managing stress, maintaining a healthy diet and getting enough sleep can also help prevent acne.
Is acne a permanent condition?
Acne can be a persistent condition, but with proper treatment and prevention, patients can improve their skin and reduce the appearance of acne and acne scarring. At SKINMED®, we are the experts in healthy, beautiful skin, and acne is an easily manageable condition in a patient-compliant relationship.
