Benefits of laser facial hair removal in SKINMED®
What is facial hair?
Facial hairiness, also called hirsutism, is a medical condition with endocrine causes, which must be diagnosed and treated correctly in order to have a complete and lasting result. Thus, it is the dermatologist who provides the patient/patient with a complete investigation profile and recommends specialist Endocrinology and Gynaecology consultations.
In the absence of the correct diagnosis, the failure of laser treatment is extremely high, because the effect is treated, not the cause. That's why SKINMED® experts guarantee the result through the right medical approach and state-of-the-art technology Alma Laser Soprano Titanium.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Soprano laser suitable for facial hair removal?
Soprano laser hair removal is a treatment that uses advanced laser technology to remove unwanted facial hair. The treatment is safe, fast and effective and can be used to treat all skin types.
How does Soprano laser hair removal work?
The Soprano laser delivers energy deep into the hair follicles, destroying them and preventing further growth. The treatment is virtually painless and the heat produced by the laser is balanced for safe and effective hair removal.
Is Soprano laser hair removal safe?
Soprano laser hair removal is extremely safe and FDA and CE approved. It can be performed on any skin type or hair color without causing damage to surrounding tissue.
Does Soprano laser hair removal hurt?
The treatment is virtually painless, with most patients experiencing only mild discomfort during the procedure. A cooling gel or cream is applied to help minimise any discomfort.
How long does a Soprano laser hair removal treatment last?
The duration of treatment will depend on the size of the treated area. Sessions may last between 15-30 minutes, in a series of 6 sessions 4-6 weeks apart, and then annual maintenance sessions or as needed.
What are the benefits of Soprano laser hair removal?
The benefits of Soprano laser hair removal include reduction of unwanted facial hair, quick treatment sessions, no time or recovery, minimal discomfort and long-lasting results.
Are there any risks or side effects associated with Soprano laser hair removal?
Soprano laser hair removal is extremely safe, but there can always be some minimal risk of side effects. These may include mild redness, oedema (swelling) or itching in the treated area.
How should I prepare for a Soprano laser hair removal treatment?
Before treatment, it is important to avoid sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50. Avoid sunbathing, excessive sun exposure or self-tanning products in the days before treatment. Cleanse your skin on the day of the procedure and avoid applying make-up, lotions or creams to the area to be treated before the procedure.
If I have herpes, can I get permanent hair removal?
Yes, at the direction and under the supervision of the specialist. The procedure does not work if the infection is active (lesion present). It is the doctor who can indicate specific treatment if the herpes infection is severe or has recurred frequently. This condition is not a contraindication if the specialist is the one monitoring the patient.
What are the contraindications of Soprano laser treatment for facial hair removal?
There are three major contraindications: active cancers, pregnancy/pregnancy and antibiotics/photosensitising drugs, with the remaining associated conditions or treatments being relative contraindications. It is the doctor/therapist who decides whether the procedure can be performed in complete safety.
What pre-procedure instructions are recommended?
Before facial laser hair removal, local treatment with retinoids/tretinoin, local or oral medications that increase sensitivity to laser treatment should be stopped. If you are undergoing antibiotic treatment your doctor/therapist should be informed to decide the safety of the treatment. Even local self-tanning is forbidden in the last week. Exposure to natural or artificial light/ultraviolet sources, sun, sunlamp are contraindicated 48 hours before the procedure.
What are the recommended post-procedure indications?
After the procedure, activities that can cause redness, such as strenuous exercise, sauna, sunbathing and direct exposure to the sun should be avoided. Regular application of SPF 50 is recommended. Laser hair removal is a safe procedure and completely free of local effects if performed by trained medical personnel.
